Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use the GetReady sites. Here is what we do, what we know is still hard, and how to tell us about a problem.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on this site and every GetReady site, in both light and dark mode.
What we do
- Every page can be used with a keyboard, starts with a “Skip to content” link and keeps a visible focus outline.
- Text and controls are checked for colour contrast in light and dark mode, and colour is never the only way information is shown.
- Pictures that only decorate are hidden from screen readers; every link says where it goes.
- Animations are short and stop on their own, and they are switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Pages work from phone width up, and text can be zoomed.
- We test new pages with the axe-core accessibility checker at phone and desktop widths.
Known limits
- Some official websites we link to are run by other organisations, and we can’t control how accessible they are.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on a GetReady site is hard or impossible for you to use, please email [email protected] with the page address and what went wrong. We’ll reply, aim to fix it, and in the meantime give you the information another way. We aim to reply within five business days.
